Josh Patterson x Winter Paralympics 2026

Back in Summer 2025 we were contacted by our friends at Munich based creative studio, Kreatives for Josh Patterson to work on some Para sport explainer videos. This time spotlighting para sports a little chillier in nature for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
Working closely with the International Paralympic Committee and Allianz, Kreatives commissioned seven illustrators including Josh, to help introduce each assigned sport and relay the rules involved in each.
Taking responsibility for Para Alpine Skiing, Josh got to researching and immersed himself in the sport. This then informed his process when developing sketches, storyboards and characters for the explainer. During the process it was essential for each artist to represent realistic body types and a range of disabilities in a respectful way.
Another consideration was being sure to implement Milano Cortina’s official branding for the 2026 Winter Games. With each sport being assigned a specific colour palette allowing for a cohesive set of visuals across the winter games.
Key moments within the animation, involved ‘colour flips’ which saw the standard icy blue and green palettes inverted into vivid magentas and lime green gradients, hinting at key moments of action, portraying the speed, skill and agility involved in Para Alpine Skiing.
It’s been a joy to see this project take shape over the last few months, and see Josh’s hard work finally out in the world while embracing the excitement around the games!
